Nowhere is the transforming power of the Internet more apparent than in the photo industry. Amateurs grab chances to enter professional fields on the fast-growing strength of major photo Web sites.

Kim Yo-han, 30, is one of a group of photographers to have benefited from the influence of major photo Web sites, particularly Raysoda.com. The former construction office employee became aware of the importance of being popular on Raysoda when he uploaded some photos he had taken as a hobby.

"When I put my pictures on Raysoda, I got a lot of recommendation points from users, and it encouraged me to continue to take more photos," Kim said in a recent interview with The Korea Herald.

Whenever Kim posted his model photos, he received hundreds of recommendation points, topping the ranking on the Web site.

Encouraged by his growing popularity, Kim quit his job and jumped into the professional world.
